In all of the programming I develop I seek to put families on the frontline for literacy. In order for me to do so, I always refer to what brings a family together and what it means to sustain a family in today’s times.
Today, I bid a farewell to the grandmother who was part inspiration for my first published book “It’s Water Time, Ma!”. I was fortunate to speak about her last evening on KPFT’s Pan Afrikan Journal with Sister Akua Holt and on the video below where I am featured by Houston’s own Mr. 1800. As you view this video, I invite all of us to ponder what it means to be a family, to rear a family and prepare a family for greatness and how that can ALL be achieved with READING and a lifetime of literacy love.
